E. C. Lyons Plate Cutting Tool or Draw Tool is an implement used to score sharp, regularly defined lines onto a plate. It can also be used to cut down and resize etching plates.
With a carbon tool steel blade and a polished wooden handle, it is the handheld alternative to a guillotine.
To cut your etching plate, repeatedly score a line across your plate. Use a metal ruler or straight edge to guide the tool’s blade. Once you have created a groove, snap the section you want to remove from the plate.
